Hi there!
My name is Kara Birkenmayer and I am a South African outdoors enthusiast. I graduated from Harvard in 2017 with a biology degree, and spent most of 2018 doing marine biology research for the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute on an island in Panama. I am completely in love with the ocean, and enjoy nothing more than freediving and sharing my passion with others.
I have considerable teaching and fieldwork experience. I have taught groups as well as individuals, and my students have ranged between the ages of 5 and 21. I am an experienced free diver, photographer, hiker and manager.
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver; TEFL; BSc (Integrative Biology)
I am currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa, but I am eager to move. My ideal job would be in the tropics, but I am willing to go almost anywhere coastal.
