Stand Up Paddle Australia : HOW TO GET STARTED
Best Places to Paddle in Australia.... A few of our staffers at HQ have had stunning paddles in the Whitsundays. Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne, Currumbin Beach, Watsons Bay… are a few locations to get you started. SUP is almost everywhere in Australia, but be sure you know the waters, especially if you’re not a local. Go out with locals or chat with locals and keep company on the water… the usual safety rules.
Stand Up Paddling is well organized in Australia. You can grab a board to buy or borrow at almost any local surf shop to get your basic skills and then go on to the Instructor courses with ASI accredited schools. If you are already in Australia, check with a local surf school, they often offer SUP courses in addition to surfing.
The organization SUP Australia was established to provide organized SUP Events. To become a certified Instructor, you can connect with the Academy of Surfing Instructors (ASI) to obtain all Levels of SUP certification that will be recognized around the world.
