Stand Up Paddle : HOW TO GET STARTED
Before beginning a course you will need to have a minimum number of hours paddling experience, usually 40+ hours, and be able to demonstrate basic Stand Up Paddling Skills. Your first qualification, usually a 2 day course, will be Stand Up Paddle Instructor Level 1 for Enclosed Flat Water. Then you can go on to Coaching Courses, Exposed Water Courses and more technical courses if you want to progress your skills.
Click on the left for more specific information based on a particular region. In the UK, for example, you will need a BSUPA certification, and in the USA you will need to the ACA Instructor qualification. If there is not a specific certification for your region, use ASI as your starting point. The ASI instructor Courses are recognised most places around the globe.
